MOVING FAITH FROM HEAD TO HEART
A gentler way to nurture faith
You want your child to love their faith. To feel safe asking questions. To turn to Allah when they’re happy and when they’re unsure.
But many parents quietly wonder where to begin, without turning faith into a lesson or a lecture.
This workbook gives you a gentle starting place through stories, reflection, and conversations that build connection, not pressure.
What This Journey Builds in Your Child
Not just knowledge, but a relationship with Allah they can feel and trust.
Love: Allah loves them deeply Your child learns that Allah is Al-Wadud (The Most Loving) and that His love is greater than anything they know.
Presence: Allah is present in their everyday life They begin to recognize Allah’s presence in nature, family moments, and even their own feelings.
Names of Allah: Knowing Allah through His Names Your child learns one Name of Allah at a time, what it means and how to call upon Him using that Name.
Dua: Talking to Allah with confidence They learn how to make dua from the heart, knowing that Allah is Al-Mujib (The One who responds) and always hears them.
Mistakes & Mercy: It’s safe to make mistakes Your child learns that mistakes are part of growing and that Allah is Al-Ghaffar (The Most Forgiving) and always welcomes them back.
Trust: Trusting Allah’s plan They find comfort in knowing that Allah is Al-Hakim (The All-Wise) and always wants what is best for them.

Meet Dr. Hanaa Ghannoum
PhD | Early Childhood Educator | Parenting Coach | Founder of Peace Within Home
I grew up in a culture where faith was often taught through fear, punishment, and control. Rules came before relationships. Obedience before understanding. And for a long time, that shaped how Allah felt, distant, heavy, and hard to return to when mistakes were made.
As I grew older and began learning Islam more deeply, something stood out to me. The Prophet PBUH did not teach faith through fear or force. And the Quran does not introduce Allah that way either. Again and again, Allah introduces Himself as The Most Merciful, The Most Compassionate. Yes, the Qur’an speaks about accountability. Yes, it mentions punishment.
But when you step back and truly look, Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, compassion, and generosity are mentioned far more often than fear. Not slightly more. Significantly more.
That realization broke my heart; and changed everything. Because in every relationship, we understand this truth: You cannot love someone you do not know. And you cannot build a relationship with Allah without getting to know Him.
One of the most powerful ways Allah invites us to know Him is through His Names. Names that describe who He is, how He treats us, and how He welcomes us back when we fall short.
And that matters, especially for our children. Because too many kids today are growing up learning about Allah through fear. Through control. Through the idea that mistakes push them away from Him. Our children deserve better than that.
They deserve to know Allah as Someone they can return to when they mess up. Someone who listens. Someone who forgives. Someone whose door is always open.
This is how Allah introduces Himself to us in the Qur’an. And this is how our children deserve to be introduced to their Creator.
Faith was never meant to be forced. It grows through knowing, returning, and trusting.
And when children know that Allah’s mercy is greater than their mistakes, they don’t run away from faith. They run back to Him.
That is the kind of relationship we are called to nurture, and that is the heart behind Getting Closer to Allah.
